Community Art Project
The July school holidays at the Mahurangi Community Centre in Snells Beach were a tremendous success with a great community turnout. From the 3rd to the 5th of July, between 10 am and 4 pm, the center hosted a wonderful event where participants had the opportunity to paint Native NZ birds onto six massive panels, forming a stunning New Zealand forest mural. The free event attracted 257 enthusiastic people, and together, they painted an impressive total of 210 birds. Participants could choose from 13 captivating MDF cutouts of iconic birds like the Kiwi, Tui, Rifleman, Morepork, Fantail, Bellbird, and Wood Pigeon. The vibrant colours and unique personalities given to each bird brought the forest mural to life, creating a beautiful representation of New Zealand’s natural heritage. The event was a fantastic way for the community to come together, unleash their creativity, and leave their artistic mark on this amazing project.
The finished boards now have a permanent home at Less Waste Educational Hub Warkworth 55 Lawrie Rd Warkworth New Zealand
