Want Not, Want Art! is an engaging series of eight free art workshops designed to inspire creativity through the use of land filled waste and up-cycling. Facilitated by artists Shelly Gray and Desiree Alexandre at the Less Waste Property’s education hub, these workshops take place on the first Saturday of each month from October to October.
The initiative encourages participants to think outside the box by working with unconventional materials, drawing inspiration from renowned artists such as Robe Bradford, HA Schult, Jane Perkins, and Derek Gores. These workshops not only celebrate creative expression but also highlight the importance of sustainability and responsible consumption.
Participants will explore various artistic techniques, including acrylic and gouache painting, mixed media, collage, and sculpture assembly. Each workshop focuses on a specific theme, allowing participants of all ages and skill levels to experiment and personalize their creations. Limited to 12-15 participants, the workshops foster an intimate, hands-on experience and a sense of community.
Overall, “Want Not, Want Art!” is a celebration of creativity and connection, encouraging participants to re-imagine waste into beautiful art while raising awareness about environmental issues.
